"MAJOR 2012 EXHIBITION ANNOUNCED BY KOREAN EYE AND SAATCHI GALLERY AND SPONSORED BY STANDARD CHARTERED Korean Eye, sponsored by Standard Chartered, and the Saatchi Gallery today announced that the Korean Eye exhibitions will continue at the Saatchi Gallery in 2011 and 2012. In 2012 the entire Saatchi Gallery will be given over to a Korean Eye exhibition of contemporary Korean art which will be selected and curated by Charles Saatchi and the Gallery’s team. This major exhibition will be on show at the Saatchi Gallery during the summer of 2012. The Saatchi Gallery is currently hosting the Korean Eye 2010 exhibition, Fantastic Ordinary which runs until July 21 before touring to Singapore in October, and Seoul in November to coincide with the G20 summit. Building on the popular success of last year’s Korean Eye: Moon Generation, which attracted over 250,000 visitors to the Saatchi Gallery, Fantastic Ordinary presents a diverse and arresting selection of over 30 works by 12 talented emerging Korean artists. This series of exhibitions is organised by Korean Eye, founded in 2009 by David and Serenella Ciclitira to support emerging and more established Korean artists by exhibiting their work internationally. Commenting on the announcement David Ciclitira said: “Korean Eye’s partnership with Standard Chartered and the Saatchi Gallery is an exciting new opportunity to present ground breaking contemporary art exhibitions that has already proved incredibly popular. We are immensely pleased that the Saatchi Gallery believes so much in our vision, and has decided to present Korean Eye in the summer 2012 throughout the entire Saatchi Gallery”. Dr Tim Miller, Director of Standard Chartered and Chairman of Standard Chartered First Bank Korea, said “Standard Chartered is absolutely delighted to sponsor the continued success of Korean Eye at the Saatchi Gallery in 2012. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring contemporary art and awareness of Korea as a whole to an international audience”. Nigel Hurst, CEO of the Saatchi Gallery, said: “Following on from the success of Korean Eye 2009 and the public interest already shown in the current 2010 exhibition, we are very happy to announce that Saatchi Gallery will continue to showcase Korean contemporary art in 2011 and 2012. This will culminate in a full scale exhibition that will use the entire Saatchi Gallery as a platform to display new Korean art during the summer of 2012”. |
